Lead Guitar – Andy Gilbert
Andy was born in Birmingham in 1965 and began playing guitar after seeing Paul Weller on the telly with The Jam. His Dad showed him a few chords to get him started but he’s still waiting for his second lesson! The punk spirit of the late 1970’s had him in and out of countless bands throughout his formative teenage years playing in grotty pubs across the Midlands. In 1990, as Britpop was about to explode on the scene, he joined the 70’s Glam Rock tribute band Ballroom Glitz playing regularly in venues up and down the country. In the mid-90’s he played in a ZZ Top tribute band, Tres Hombres, playing regularly to thousands of hairy bikers at the annual British Motorcycle Federation Rally events. It hasn’t all been tribute and cover acts though, Andy has also played his own and other original artists songs in a variety of bands, performed in theatre groups and even been part of an annual pantomime band (oh, yes he has!).
